Hampstead Heath – Veteran Tree Trail launch day 22 May 2019
To celebrate the completion of the veteran tree trail at Hampstead Heath, a launch day will be held on 22 May. The day will run between 10am and 2pm and will include a veteran tree management demonstration and discussion and an introduction to the trails.
The veteran tree trails project is funded by City of London and aims to showcase the cutting-edge veteran tree management at a number of its sites; Ashtead Common, Burnham Beeches (10 July), Epping Forest (4 July) and Hampstead Heath (22 May). Due to high demand and limited places, individuals will only be able to attend one launch day. However the self-guided trails are open to all and can be accessed at any time.
Tree Architecture Two-Day Training Course - Assessment to aid Veteran Tree Management 5 & 6 November 2019
This two-day course, delivered by Tom Joye of Inverde (Belgium), is aimed at professionals wanting to improve their knowledge of tree architecture and how this can be used as a tool during veteran tree management.
Valuing and managing veteran trees: a one day training course, South Gloucestershire Thursday 24 October 2019
This one-day introductory course is aimed at those who are responsible for managing areas with veteran trees, anyone who owns veteran trees or has a keen interest.

ATF seeks new trustee treasurer

Pencarrow Survey for the Ancient Tree Inventory by the ATF Cornwall
In October 2018 volunteer recorders were able to survey this estate and much of its outer farmland to identify ancient and veteran trees on the Woodland Trusts Ancient Tree Inventory. The recorders were all members of the Cornwall Ancient Tree Forum many of whom have been recording trees in the county since 2010 when the project began.
Woodland Trust publish Conservation Research Prospectus 2019
This prospectus is primarily designed to communicate the Woodland Trust's research interests with prospective research partners (and funders), to enable them to better target their research programme to have the most impact on the Trust's work.
The prospectus was produced after an internal review of evidence needs that could be met by supporting research. This process included conversations across different teams in the Trust, and a wide variety of evidence needs were identified. These have been summarised and categorised across 5 key thematic areas, with a number of topics highlighted in the prospectus document.
